Several Newcastle fans have reflected on the club’s nine-year anniversary of their iconic 4-4 draw with Arsenal.
Arsenal were 4-0 up at St James’ Park with half an hour left to play when the Magpies sparked an incredible comeback, with goals coming from Leon Best, two Joey Barton penalty strikes and a jaw-dropping long range volley from the late Cheick Tiote.
The result is still considered one of the best comebacks in Premier League history, with Arsenal second in the Premier League at the time, while Alan Pardew’s Newcastle side were sitting in mid-table.
Newcastle tweeted the video of Tiote’s goal to mark the occasion, and many fans took to social media to reflect on the historic moment, as well as remember Tiote who sadly passed away in 2017 after collapsing during a training session.
