Newcastle fans react to Joselu’s goalscoring record in Spain this season

Several Newcastle fans have reacted to an interesting stat concerning the club’s former forward Joselu.

The Spaniard left St James’ Park shortly after Rafa Benitez departed in July, with the forward returning to his native Spain, signing for Alaves for a fee of £2.5million.

Since then, he has found goals much easier to come by in La Liga than he did in the Premier League, having scored his ninth league goal of the season against Sevilla last weekend.

Following Joselu’s goal, his ninth in 21 games (Transfermarkt), a number of Magpies supporters began to realise what this mean in regards to La Liga’s top goal-scorer chart.

As it stands, only three players have scored more goals than Joselu in La Liga this season, with those players being Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, and Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi (BBC Sport).

A number of Newcastle fans reacted to that information on social media, with the supporters in question having a variety of responses to the statistic.
