Newcastle were trailing 2-0 at Goodson Park on Tuesday night as the game went into injury time, but the Magpies, against all odds, scored twice with Florian Lejeune scoring both goals to earn Steve Bruce’s side a valuable point.
The draw means that the Magpies are now unbeaten in five games in all competitions and they’ll be hopeful of extending that run at the weekend when they host Oxford United in the FA Cup.
Plenty of Newcastle fans took to social media after the game to celebrate their club’s late equaliser, and a lot of the focus happened to be on one player.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford hardly covered himself in glory for Newcastle’s equaliser as he was stood behind the goal line as he tried to save the ball.
As a former Sunderland player, Pickford is hardly the most popular man amongst the Magpies’ fanbase and these supporters were quick to have a laugh at his expense.

Head coach Steve Bruce on tonight’s fantastic late fightback at Goodison Park:
🗣”We have a great bunch of lads who never know when they’re beaten, and obviously the fact Jordan Pickford has only got little arms was a massive help for the second goal”. #NUFC pic.twitter.com/5x3S8A6Ute
