Newcastle are reportedly poised to complete the loan signing of Nabil Bentaleb from Bundesliga side Schalke.
According to Sky Sports News’ Keith Downie, who cites Sky Germany, the loan deal will cost the Magpies just £850,000 for the duration of his stay in the Premier League.
Downie adds that Newcastle will pay the player’s wages in full and also have the option to sign him permanently for £8.5 million at the end of the season.
Newcastle are yet to make a senior signing this month and Bentaleb could be the first name through the door, with Steve Bruce targetting ‘one or two’ players this month (The Guardian).
Bentaleb may arrive at Newcastle with a point to prove, he has been out of favour at Schalke this season as a result of his ‘unprofessional behaviour’ (Sky Sports).
These Newcastle fans on social media think the club might have got themselves a potential bargain in the former Tottenham midfielder.
