Newcastle are reportedly looking at a deal to strengthen their defence in January, with Everton’s Mason Holgate a potential target.
Football Insider are reporting that the Holgate is on Newcastle’s list of targets this January and that the club are keeping tabs on the versatile defender.

However, any deal could rely on who is appointed as the new Everton boss after Marco Silva was sacked last week.
The defender has established himself as a key member of the defence this season, after spending last season on loan at Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
The Toffees value Holgate at £14 million, but have not yet decided whether to sell him.
REad Newcastle’s verdict
Holgate hasn’t had the perfect career at Everton, but he has improved a lot recently.
The defender could be a good signing for Newcastle, who are looking for defensive reinforcements this January.
Many will call for Steve Bruce to sign some attackers, but signing Holgate still could be a good deal.
