Ian Holloway believes Leeds should move for Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle

Dwight Gayle has been linked with a move away from Newcastle this January, and former Premier League boss Ian Holloway believes Leeds United should make a move.

The forward has found opportunities limited this season, and will be allowed to leave if a big enough offer comes in for him.

Leeds have been linked with a move, but it has been thought that they will not have the funds to meet Newcastle’s asking price.

However, former Blackpool and Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway believes Leeds would be mad not to sign the striker.

Holloway said, via the Chronicle:

But it is all about what happens in the January transfer window. At the moment Leeds are spreading the goals around but there’s rumours they might go for Dwight Gayle, which I think would be a brilliant signing because he’s proved he can do it in the Championship.

The Magpies are struggling up top at the moment, with Joelinton very much not firing.

However, Gayle’s career at Newcastle seems to be over, and the Magpies could use the fee to sign another forward.

Leeds may be still interested, but it remains unknown whether or not they will make a move.
