The Chronicle reports that Newcastle captain Jonjo Shelvey has come forward with suggestions that the squad could attain Europa League qualification this season.
The midfielder has been in fine form recently and looks to be leading the dressing room by example. The Magpies have picked up seven points from their last three games and now sit in the top 10 of the Premier League.
In an interview with NUFC TV, the former Liverpool man gave his two cents on why the sky is the limit for Bruce’s side:
The gaffer and his staff have done brilliant in making us fresh for games.
It has shown in the way we have been playing. It would be brilliant to finish in the top half and qualify for Europe. It’s still a long way off but we have to keep fighting and keep going.
After the story was shared on Twitter, these Newcastle fans have had their say on the prospect of playing in Europe under Bruce.

READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT
It’s a bold statement but isn’t this what a club like Newcastle need?
They haven’t qualified for Europe since Alan Pardew’s time at the club and since then they’ve never really looked like they will get back to that level.
The team are grinding out results slowly and although the football isn’t to a standard most fans would deem suitable, you need to respect the ambition Steve Bruce has instilled in his squad.
If Benitez was still in charge and this statement was made, would there have been more support? Bruce is getting the club back where it needs to be, whether that results in European football is far too early to tell.
