Newcastle United currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, with 12 points from 11 matches.
The Magpies secured a crucial 3-2 victory last time out against West Ham United at the London Stadium, with defender Federico Fernandez getting his name on the scoresheet.

The centre-back is a big danger from set-pieces and he has admitted that manager Steve Bruce likes his defenders to be more involved with the ball in an offensive nature. As quoted on the official Newcastle website, Fernandez said:
In terms of how we play, he [Bruce] encourages us as centre backs to try to be more involved with the ball in the offensive part of the game and they have really good ideas in terms of set pieces.
We’re really working during the week to find the best space in the box to explore.

The Magpies are extremely dangerous from set-pieces, as was displayed at the London Stadium last weekend.
It seems like Bruce makes the players put a lot of work into set-pieces on the training pitch during the week and it is paying off on matchdays, especially for the defenders.
The fact that Bruce wants his defenders involved in the team’s attacking may come as a surprise to many, but building from the back is the modern craze in football and Fernandez and co are decent with their feet as well as their heads.
