Newcastle have had some excellent goalkeepers over the years, with Martin Dubravka the current number one and Tim Krul having served for a number of years between the sticks.
One shot-stopper who has played a background role at the club, however, is Rob Elliot. He has been at St. James’ Park since 2011 and has spoken about how important it is to give back to the community as a player.

Elliot might not be good enough to start at Newcastle in the Premier League, but he has served the club well since arriving in 2011. He has played 68 games in all competitions, including 52 times in the Premier League.
As a second or third choice, Elliot certainly does a job. His work off the pitch, as he mentions in his interview, is also clearly having an impact. It is great to see a footballer embracing the community and trying to build a link between the fans and the players.
