Jesse Lingard is not expected to feature for Manchester United on Sunday after coming off with an injury against AZ Alkmaar in the week.
Speaking ahead of the game, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that it is unlikely that the England international will be involved at St James’ Park.
Lingard has been in a torrid run of form of late and these United fans on social media have been expressing their delight at the news.

While it’s never nice to see any injury celebrated, it will force Solskjaer to rejig his midfield options.
Lingard’s performances not only this season but this calendar year do not justify the playing time that he has been getting, so this could open up an opportunity for someone else to step in.
Some fans have suggested that Pogba could be played in a more advanced role and that could be something that Solskjaer considers further down the line.
