After producing a major upset in North London, Newcastle United will start their League Cup campaign in the second round against Leicester City at home on Wednesday.
This will be the Magpies’ second home game of the season and they’ll hope to win it unlike their last match at St. James’ Park which ended in a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Newcastle United haven’t gone past the 5th round of the League Cup since reaching the final in 1976. Last season, they exited the competition in the second round after losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest. This time, Steve Bruce’s side will be hoping to go further than that.
Their opponents won’t be easy to beat though. Leicester City who reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup last season are yet to lose a match this season and have some really good players in their squad.
However, the Magpies will certainly be in high spirits after beating Tottenham Hotspur in their own backyard last weekend.
Now, we will take a look as to how Newcastle could line up against Leicester…
