Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has heaped praise on young forward Joelinton after his performance against Tottenham at the weekend.
The striker scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle secured their first win of the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Bruce said this:
For him (Joelinton) in particular, when you come here, wearing the number nine, he is 22 years old and with all the stuff that comes with that, I am delighted for him.
Last week he had a big opportunity at Norwich, unfortunately, he missed it. But [the Spurs goal] got him off and running and we saw, there and then, him just grow into the player that we know he is.

Centre-forwards thrive on scoring a goal at it was good to see him get it.

We all saw how important Salomon Rondon’s goals were for Newcastle in the Premier League last season, winning so many points for Rafa Benitez during his loan spell on Tyneside.
Joelinton will now be hoping he can have a similar effect after scoring his first goal for the club against Spurs.
If Newcastle’s defence can continue to be as solid as they were in North London, Joelinton’s finishing at the other end of the pitch could be enough to ensure they remain in the top-flight for another season.
His hold-up play could also be crucial, as he impressed at holding the ball up and bringing others into play throughout the match. The likes of Christian Atsu and Miguel Almiron will thrive off his hold-up play going forwards.
