Rolando Aarons could still have a future at Newcastle, despite being left out of the club’s Premier League squad.

According to Chronicle Live, Steve Bruce remains a fan of the player and has been impressed with him since taking the job.

He was one of the casualties as Bruce left five senior players out of his Premier League squad earlier this month.

It was a decision that some fans didn’t agree with, so does he really have a future at the club?

Aarons was unfortuntate to miss out on a spot in the squad, he had looked sharp throughout pre-season.

The winger, who has been threatening to break through at senior level for some time, saw his career stagnate before joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan last season.

The winger got himself back on track working under Bruce in the Championship and after the latter took the Newcastle job, it looked ready-made for Aarons to step up into a first-team role at St James’.

There are still huge questions marks surrounding Aarons’ quality and whether or not he is good enough to play in the top flight.

While it would only be as a squad member, there could still be something for him at Newcastle. Providing cover for the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin may be his way back into the squad, but it would be a huge step up for him  to stand any chance of rescuing his career on Tyneside.

It feels like Aarons has been on the scene for a while and with only 22 league appearances to his name, you have to wonder whether it would be best for him to move on and find a permanent home elsewhere.

Bruce’s future could play a huge role in deciding Aarons’ too. If the manager is no longer in charge in January or next summer, the winger will once again find himself in limbo.

All signs point towards another Newcastle United exit for Aarons and after previous stints in Italy and the Czech Republic, he may have to test himself abroad once more.

Aarons will not want to become a ‘what if’ player. He has always had a promising reputation, but as he prepares to turn 24 later this year, he needs to be at a club that can guarantee him regular first-team football.
