According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, cited by HITC, both Newcastle and West Ham failed with late moves for AC Milan’s Diego Laxalt.
The report suggests that both sides made a move, however, they couldn’t agree on a deal or how they would structure a potential payment with the Serie A giants, meaning the Uraguay international stayed in Italy.

Steve Bruce did bring in Emil Krafth and Andy Carroll on deadline day, taking the club’s summer additions up to five. But what would the 26-year-old have brought to the Premier League?

Laxalt, who has been linked with a move to the Magpies in the past, is a versatile left-sided midfielder with bags of pace. He is well known for his crossing ability, eye for goal and high work rate, with many claiming he even has the capabilities to play as a first-choice left-back.
The Uruguayan’s defensive contributions from midfield could have made him a real shrewd signing by Bruce, as the player would have complemented the likes of Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin in an attacking midfield three in behind Joelinton.
Unfortunately for the Magpies, a move never materialised, however, the club should continue to track the versatile winger ahead of a potential move in January, as he certainly has the ability to ply his trade in the Premier League.
