Harry Wilson’s loan move to Bournemouth is a real kick in the teeth for Newcastle and raises yet more questions about the club’s summer transfer business.
The Cherries have confirmed that the player will join up with Eddie Howe’s side on loan for the 2019-20 season, after they were on the hunt for a replacement for the injured David Brooks.
Plenty have been quick to point out that the Magpies were only recently told that the player was not available on loan, only for contrasting reports from Dominic King to reveal that Klopp is actually not looking to sell – so what happened?

The signing of Allan Saint-Maximin is likely to have played a big role in Newcastle’s decision to end their interest, but make no mistake about it, Wilson would have been a useful signing if he was available.

The worst part about this is that there is no real explanation as to why Liverpool have suddenly changed their stance on Wilson’s future. Clubs may have been put off by their asking price, or there could have been a lack of potential suitors?
Even when looking at the game time that could be on offer, there’s an argument to say that Wilson would be better off at Newcastle compared to Bournemouth with Brooks likely to slot back into the starting XI once fully fit.
Wilson himself may have been the man making the decision, but the lack of clarity surrounding the player will only add to some of the rising concerns about the Newcastle’s transfer decisions.
With the hours ticking down in the summer window, Bruce should be looking to make further additions to his squad, espically in the final third and he needs to avoid any Wilson-like hiccups along the way.
