Steve Bruce looked to be willing to hand midfielder Jack Colback another chance at St James’ Park this summer, which left many Newcastle fans confused and disappointed.
The 29-year-old featured in Bruce’s first game in charge of the club, playing 77 minutes in the 1-0 win over West Ham in the Asia Trophy.
However, according to The Chronicle, cited by HITC, the new Magpies boss has had a change of heart and has now made the midfielder surplus to requirements once again.
Colback has spent two loan stints with Nottingham Forest in recent seasons, and it looks as if the player could well be heading out the door at St James’ Park on a permanent basis before the window closes.

Magpies fans should be heaping praise on Bruce for eventually making the right decision.
If Newcastle are to challenge in the top half of the Premier League in the coming years, they certainly can’t be having a player like Colback as a midfield regular.
The former Sunderland man struggled with Forest in the Championship playing in a variety of roles, with former boss Martin O’Neill using the player at left-back and in midfield.
Newcastle fans haven’t really taken to the player since he joined from Sunderland five years ago, and it looks like he’ll be leaving the club, much to the delight of the Magpies faithful.
