First of all, the 26-year-old would bring plenty of top-level experience to the club.
Sabaly has spent his entire career in France, featuring in the Europa League with Bordeaux in recent seasons. The defender has also turned out in both the World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations for Senegal, impressing in both competitions in recent years.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man would also bring plenty of versatility to Steve Bruce’s side. Sabaly is predominantly a right-back, however, he can also fill in at left-back when needed.
Technically, Sabaly is certainly up to standard for the Premier League and is in the prime of his career at 26.
He is happy to join the attack in certain situations, impressing with his final balls into the box, as well as being defensively sound. Sabaly’s intelligent reading of the game and powerful approach would allow him to fit into life in the Premier League with ease.
It remains to be seen if the player will choose St James’ Park over Vicarage Road, however, if he does, the player could be a great signing and may well become Bruce’s first-choice right-back over Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin next season.
