Newcastle United and West Ham United are both believed to be in negotiations with AS Monaco over a deal for Djibril Sidibe, but should the Magpies continue to pursue the Frenchman?
According to claims from RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi via Twitter, the Premier League pair are both keen to recruit the right-back, with the transfer window closing for English top-flight clubs in just over two weeks.

Newcastle must accelerate their summer dealings following the club-record signing of Joelinton from Hoffenheim, and it seems securing defensive additions are high up on Steve Bruce’s agenda.
Sidibe had a solid season with Monaco but appears to be set for pastures new, with a move to the Premier League seemingly on the cards.

The full-back was a part of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup and has experience of playing in European competitions at club level.
Newcastle could be in the market for a new right-sided defender this summer after DeAndre Yedlin failed to convince last season. Javi Manquillo was similarly dodgy, while Jamie Sterry may not be ready for senior football just yet.
Monaco are, as per Bouhafsi’s claims, open to letting Sidibe leave the club, and the Magpies could certainly do far worse than to jump at this opportunity.
The France international would provide them with a clear upgrade on Yedlin as well as a solid, reasonably-priced addition to boost their hopes of Premier League survival.
It would certainly be a sensible acquisition for Newcastle if they are able to fend off West Ham’s interest.
