Newcastle extended their unbeaten run in the league to three games as Rafael Benitez’s side drew 1-1 with Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
Ayoze Perez gave the Magpies the lead with his fifth goal in three league games, firing in from Salomon Rondon’s lay-off, as Newcastle had the better of the chances early on.
Brighton offered very little going forwards as the home side’s supporters began to grow frustrated, but Pascal Gross’ header 15 minutes from time earned a point for Chris Hughton’s side.
Benitez’s side move above Bournemouth into 13th in the league following the draw against Brighton, with the Seagulls edging closer to Premier League safety following Cardiff City’s defeat against already relegated Fulham on Saturday.
