Fans rank Newcastle’s top five performers against Southampton

Newcastle United guaranteed their 2019-20 Premier League status on Saturday evening with an impressive 3-1 victory over Southampton at St. James’ Park.

Ayoze Perez continued his fine form by netting a first hatrick since his Tenerife days in Spain’s second division… on a day in Newcastle where you may as well have been in Spain judging by the number of shirts and shorts on show.

The Magpies now sit on 41 points in 12th, 10 points above Cardiff City in the final relegation place just five off another top-half finish under Rafa Benitez.

It was a day of highs for the club but a major worry will concern the fitness of Miguel Almiron, who was forced off in tears after what looked like a hamstring injury in the second half.

The Paraguayan record signing looked brilliant when on the field though and it’s no doubt he’ll be making an impact once again on his return to the pitch.

After full-time, we asked Newcastle fans the vote for their biggest performers using our duel and here is the top five.
