Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden is a man in demand and according to a report from the Mirror, Aston Villa have joined the race for his signature.
The Magpies star was keen to leave St James’ Park during the summer transfer window and remains interested in exiting the club in January.
Hayden has been a key player for Newcastle over recent seasons and has recently been reintegrated into Rafa Benitez’s plans for the first team following a difficult start to the campaign.
It is reported by the Mirror, though, that the midfielder is being targeted this month and Championship duo Aston Villa and West Brom are both eyeing respective swoops.
Dean Smith is believed to be on the lookout for new recruits in the transfer window as he looks to push for a spot in the top six in the second half of the season.
Newcastle recently rebuffed advances from the Baggies regarding a potential loan move, indicating that they are reluctant to sanction the departure of Hayden.
