Newcastle have launched a bid for Faitout Maouassa of Rennes.
A versatile left-sided player, Maouassa is currently on loan at Nimes Olympique.
The 20-year-old is capable of playing at any depth of the field on the left-hand side of the field, and Rafael Benitez seems to be keen to make his squad younger and more balanced.
Beginning his career at Nancy, the French U20 star was snapped up by Rennes in 2017.
Maouassa boasts an impressive amount of pace, and is perhaps most at home playing as a wing-back.
