Newcastle have made an approach to sign Napoli forward Simone Verdi on loan, according to reports.
As cited by the Shields Gazette, Il Roma an Italian outlet, claim that Rafa Benitez is aware that he may be working under financial constraints once again in January and as such, he’s looking to explore the loan market.
With Salomon Rondon and Kenedy already on loan at St James’ Park, Benitez will not be allowed to sign a loanee from another English side, so exploring the European market remains his only real option.

Verdi joined Napoli from Bologna earlier this year has not featured for Carlo Ancelotti’s side since October. He picked up an injury at that time and has been unable to regain his place in the side.
The 26-year-old is apparently open to making a loan move in order to get the chance to play regular first-team football.
