Newcastle United are set to make a bid for Chaves midfielder Stephen Eustaquio, according to report from Portuguese outlet Record.
Record say that Newcastle sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old play against Vitoria Guimaraes on Sunday, and they were apparently very impressed with what they saw from the midfielder.
They go on to say that Chaves are aware of Newcastle’s interest in the 21-year-old and that the Magpies will make a formal approach to sign him in the near future.
Chaves reportedly won’t stand in the Portuguese U21 international’s way should Newcastle meet their valuation of around £6.2million, but it remains to be seen if the Magpies will be willing to spend that amount when the January window opens.
Eustaquio only joined Chaves in January of this year but he’s impressed almost immediately and as such, there is bound to be plenty of interest in him.
