Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez is wanted by La Liga side Real Betis, according to reports in Spain, as cited on Football Espana.
The 25-year-old has previously played in the Segunda Division with CD Tenerife, where he was named the league’s 2013-14 ‘Best Attacking Midfielder’.
Betis, who currently sit 12th in Spain’s top tier, were keen on signing the playmaker in the last summer transfer window. Nevertheless, the former-Spain youth player remained at St James’ Park, most recently coming off the bench to score the winner against Watford two weeks ago.
Perez has been receiving plenty of playing time under Rafa Benitez, but his last league goal before the Hornets match-up came against Chelsea last May, in which he bagged a second-half brace in the 3-0 win.
He has remained a United player since 2014, despite regular speculation about his future, appearing 154 times and scoring 31 goals.
Reports also suggest that Los Verdiblancos will face opposition to land the Magpies’ man, with La Liga rivals Real Sociedad also in the hunt.
With Newcastle boss Benitez looking to recruit another striker in January, the door may be left open for Perez to exit Tyneside. However, his performances in the festive period and before could be the deciding factor in his destination come 2019.
