According to the Daily Mirror, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is being considered as a potential replacement for Rafael Benitez, if results fail to pick up in the coming weeks.
The report suggests that following the Magpies’ winless start to the season, fears are beginning to grow behind the scenes.
Rodgers also hasn’t had the best of starts this season with Celtic, after back-to-back trebles with the Scottish giants the club currently sit third in the SPFL.
Benitez’s side are currently in the relegation zone after picking up two points from their opening eight games, and recently blew a 2-0 lead against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The club also suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, and the next three games against Brighton, Southampton and Watford are thought to be vital in terms of Benitez either remaining in charge, or receiving the sack.
Benitez is currently into the final year of his contract at St James Park, with the majority of supporters desperate for the Spaniard to be offered a new deal.
