Rondon making efforts to return in time for Brighton clash

Salomon Rondon is working to return to full fitness ahead of Newcastle United’s next Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion, as reported by the Shields Gazette.

The Venezuela international has been forced to sit out of the Magpies’ recent fixtures as he continues to work his way back from a thigh injury. Rondon sustained this knock during Newcastle’s encounter with Crystal Palace last month.

Rondon’s absence has been a blow for the Magpies, who are still without a win after eight Premier League fixtures.

With the towering on-loan striker unavailable in recent times, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has opted to utilise Joselu up front, with Yoshinori Muto also having been given some chances to impress.

Nevertheless, the Spanish tactician will undoubtedly be desperate to have the West Brom man at his disposal as Newcastle enter a vital period, starting with a fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Rondon delivered an update on his condition via Twitter, displaying his rehabilitation from a thigh problem.
