Newcastle United defenders Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett have both returned to training ahead of this weekend’s match with Manchester United.
The Chronicle report that the pair both missed Saturday’s home defeat to Leicester City through injury.
Fernandez, who joined the club in the summer from recently-relegated Swansea City in a £6m deal, has started four of the Magpies’ Premier League matches to date at the heart of the defence.
Manager Rafael Benitez chose Ciaran Clark to partner captain Jamaal Lascelles in the Argentinian’s absence, but Fernandez is likely to return should he be of sufficient fitness.

As for Dummett, the Geordie has also been a regular under Benitez this campaign, starting all of the club’s previous six league fixtures before the Foxes clash.
Winger Kenedy was forced to fill in at full-back in the defender’s absence and will be hoping Dummett can return in order to return to his natural position.
It’s not as good news for Salomon Rondon, who will miss the clash with Jose Mourinho’s men having been ruled out until at least October 20.
