Ayoze Perez is refusing to fret over his shortcomings in front of goal for Newcastle United so far this season.
The Spanish attacker has not yet found the net for the Magpies after five Premier League games, prompting recent criticism over his performances.
Perez emerged as an important player for Rafa Benitez’s side last season and played a key role as the club enjoyed a strong campaign. The versatile front-man netted 10 times, which made him the club’s top goalscorer for the season.
Former Spain Under-21 international Perez has been speaking about his recent shortage of goals for Newcastle and expressed his confidence in his ability to fire.
As quoted by the Shields Gazette, Perez looked ahead to Newcastle’s upcoming clash with Crystal Palace while reflecting on his recent displays.

I’m confident that they’re going to come. I’m looking for the first one – that’s the hardest one to come. I scored important goals last season, that’s true, but now it’s a new one, and I’m looking for more goals to help the team win. That’s the idea.
As a striker, you have to think about goals, and that’s it. I’ve had a couple of chances, and still no goal, it will come, for sure.
The Magpies have endured a difficult start to the new season and are in dire need of three points against Palace on Saturday. Perez is hoping to contribute to a much-needed victory.
It’s a team of our league. Not decisive, but it’s important for us. If we win it, we forget about what’s happened and start climbing. It’s going to be a great test for us. It’s a great team. The stadium is hard to play in.
It’s important to get that win as soon as possible. It would give us a lot of confidence. We will give everything we’ve got to bring it home.
