Newcastle United defender Federico Fernandez has called for his side to put their poor recent form behind them as they go in search of their first three points this season.
Fernandez, who joined Newcastle in the summer from relegated Swansea City, has been a key man under Rafa Benitez so far this season.
However, Newcastle have not enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign, having picked up just one point from their opening five fixtures, which came away at Cardiff City.
The Magpies have succumbed to defeats against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and, most recently, Arsenal. After this testing run of fixtures against top-six sides, Fernandez urged his Newcastle side to learn from their mistakes and kick on.

As quoted by the Mirror, the Argentine central defender highlighted that Newcastle need to quickly begin winning points.
We know it’s very important. We have a couple of games against teams who are maybe middle of the table now. It’s no excuse, but in these last five league games, we knew it would be very difficult, against top teams. But we’ve approached them well, we’ve played like a team, but we didn’t take anything. Now we need to start taking points because that’s what we need.
Benitez and his side will be desperate to get three points on the board next weekend when they face their sixth fixture of the new Premier League season at Crystal Palace.
We need to analyse the good things and prepare for Crystal Palace away. We can go there and win the game, so we need to be ready, be focused and positive. We push high, we press and we have our chances.
