Former Newcastle midfielder and football pundit Jermaine Jenas doesn’t think Rafa Benitez will walk away from the club.
Newcastle haven’t enjoyed the most successful of starts to the season, with the club current sat in the relegation zone with just one point from their opening four Premier League games.
Benitez is understandably frustrated, in part with Mike Ashley for failing to deliver upon certain promises such as delivering transfer funds, having declared before the season’s start that he dreams of managing a Magpies side that could fight for more than simply survival.

Having wanted to be smarter in the transfer market this summer, Benitez’ plans didn’t exactly come to fruition, and the Spaniard now faces an uphill battle to ensure the club remain in the top flight.
When questioned about whether he thought Benitez would eventually grow tired of that prospect and leave the club, Jenas had this to say, as quoted by Chronicle Live.
Look, Premier League jobs don’t come easy and he’s got one. There are plenty of managers out there who haven’t and are chomping at the bit to get one. I don’t see him walking away or the club sacking him because I don’t think they can – he is key to this team staying in the Premier League.
The thing with that [style of play adopted against Man City] is that Rafa is that type of manager – where ever he’s been, that has been his style; that is how he likes to manage a club. I don’t think it’s just down to personnel.
The Cardiff result is disappointing but it’s been as tough a start as possible. There have been some positive things in that start. I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom for Newcastle United FC.
