Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has been discussing his aims and ambitions for the season ahead.
Speaking to Slovakian outlet SME, the Magpies star reflected on his side’s difficult start to the new Premier League campaign but insisted that they have still set the bar high when it comes to their targeted league finish.
The pre-season goals were to finish as high as the 10th place last year, but we did not start the season well, although it is still very long.
Dubravka conceded that Newcastle have struggled so far, with the club currently in the bottom three of the Premier League. However, he insisted that the Magpies are still working towards their pre-season ambitions of a top-half finish.

The former Slavia Prague goalkeeper has been in exceptional form for Newcastle since his arrival on an initial loan deal last January, establishing himself as Rafa Benitez’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Dubravka was particularly impressive in Newcastle’s last outing against Manchester City but was unable to shut the reigning Premier League champions out, as they secured a 2-1 win.
The experienced shot-stopper reflected on his relationship with the Newcastle fans, hailing the St James’ Park faithful.
I often hear my name and the exciting words from the fans. I use it with full breath, I try to work on my own and give the maximum to the people who are watching.
