The French Ligue 1 side are reportedly looking to upgrade their attacking talent before the start of the season, and are also looking at a deal for Brazilian winger Matheus Pereira from Sporting Portugal.
Aarons has had a difficult injury-hit career at Newcastle, which did start off promisingly.
The young winger had been touted as a top prospect, before injuries hampered his career.
