Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has called for composure as his side head into what promises to be a challenging period.
The Magpies have endured a rather uninspiring start to the new Premier League season, picking up just one point from a possible six. This comes after an opening day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and a stalemate against Cardiff City.
Greater tests await Newcastle, though, with Lascelles set to lead his side into a three-week spell which entails fixtures against Chelsea, Manchester City and then Arsenal.

Newcastle will still be keen to get off to a good start this term and Lascelles remains confident that his side have what it takes to succeed despite the level of opposition that will face them.
As quoted by the Mirror, the 24-year-old insisted that there is no cause for concern at St James’ Park, with the first-team squad fully focused on putting their stuttering opening to the new season behind them.
I wouldn’t say this is a difficult period at all. We’ll get through these next few games. We’ve got a big squad and good players in every area. There’s no need to panic. We started last season with two defeats, so at least we’ve come away from Cardiff with something.
There’s no point dwelling on the negatives. We have to stay positive. We’ll just stay calm and train hard and whatever team the gaffer decides to go for in our next game, it will be a good one.
