Kenedy missed a 97th-minute penalty as 10-man Newcastle United were held to a 0-0 draw by Cardiff City in the South of Wales at Saturday lunchtime.
The Chelsea loanee put on a poor showing as he failed to complete a single pass during the whole of the first half, was lucky not to be sent off and saw his crummy spot-kick saved by Neil Etheridge in the latter stages of stoppage time.
In a game where chances were a rarity, Ayoze Perez had the best of Newcastle’s as he was put through on goal twice in the first half but was thwarted by Etheridge on both occasions.
Wantaway midfielder Isaac Hayden replaced the injured Javier Manquillo at half-time and slotted in at right-back, only to be dismissed for a shocking lunge on Josh Murphy just 21 minutes later.
Sean Morrison handled summer signing Yoshinori Muto’s late cross to seemingly concede the match-losing penalty, but Kenedy left the fans who travelled down for Tyneside devastated behind the goal and Rafa Benitez’ wait for a first win of the season will continue.
