Stoke reject Newcastle’s £2m bid for Erik Pieters

Newcastle made a late deadline day bid for Stoke City defender Erik Pieters, but the Potters have rejected it, as per a report from Pete Smith of the Stoke Sentinel.

According to Smith, Stoke quickly knocked back the bid, despite the fact they are looking to bring in a new left-back to challenge Pieters for his starting role.

Rafa Benitez has been left frustrated by the lack of transfer activity at Newcastle and his mood won’t be improved after Stoke rejected his club’s offer for the Dutch international defender.

With, at time of writing, just over two hours to go until the transfer window closes, it remains to be seen if the Magpies are able to complete any more business or if Benitez’s frutstrations will continue to grow as he once again fails to get the backing that he wanted from the club in terms of recruting new player in the transfer market.
