Newcastle United look set to make a formal approach for Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien ahead of this Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Get French Football News cite L’Equipe in reporting the Magpies have enquired about the 25-year-old and will now make a bid for the player.
Jullien began his career at Auxerre before joining German outfit Freiburg in the Summer of 2013.
That same year, the defender was part of the squad that won France’s first ever U20 World Cup, making two appearances.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is keen to add to his central defensive options, which currently consist of Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune and Fabian Schar, who joined earlier this summer from La Liga side Deportivo.

Jullien was a regular as Toulouse narrowly avoided relegation from Ligue 1 last season, making 36 appearances for the club.
He scored twice and provided three assists during the campaign, with one of those goals coming in the first leg of their relegation play-off against Ajaccio.
