West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi has emerged as a target for Newcastle United, according to Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones.

The Magpies are believed to be on the lookout for added defensive reinforcements this summer following the recent cruciate ligament injury sustained by Florian Lejeune.
Newcastle have already signed Fabian Schar to replace Chancel Mbemba following his move to FC Porto, but it seems they will need to pursue other defensive targets to compensate for the temporary loss of Lejeune.

Jones states that Brighton and Hove Albion are also in the race for Hegazi, who could be tempted by the prospect of Premier League football ahead of the upcoming season.
Hegazi was a part of the West Brom squad that succumbed to relegation last season but stood out in some games, despite being hindered by inconsistencies.
The central defender was also a key player for Egypt at the World Cup, but was unable to prevent them from exiting at the group stages of the competition.
