Newcastle United are facing late competition from Bordeaux in their pursuit of Diego Reyes.
The Mexican international, as reported by Calciomercato yesterday, is believed to be on the verge of completing a summer switch to St James’ Park as he looks to link up with Rafa Benitez.
However, new indications from Calciomercato state that a deal may not be so cut and dry for Reyes, with Ligue 1 giants Bordeaux having joined the race.

Reyes’ contract at FC Porto expired at the end of the recently-concluded season, meaning that he is available to move to a new club this summer without a transfer fee required.
With Newcastle having allowed Chancel Mbemba to complete an £8 million switch to Porto this week, it’s believed that the club could be on the lookout for a new central defender.
Reyes was a part of Mexico’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup and it seems following his return, he’ll have plenty of potential suitors to choose from.
