Newcastle United and Fenerbahce are believed to be leading West Ham in the race to sign Diego Reyes on a free transfer this summer.
The Mexican international is available for a move ahead of next season after seeing his contract at Porto expire at the end of last month.
This has led a number of clubs to reportedly express an interest, with recent claims indicating that Premier League duo Newcastle and West Ham were battling for his signature.
However, according to a report from Turkish news outlet Fanatik, it seems Newcastle and Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are in the best positions to tempt Reyes to their respective clubs.

Reyes, following his release at Porto, wants to be given assurances over regular first-team football and according to Fanatik, this is something that will not be possible at West Ham.
Manuel Pellegrini has significantly bolstered the Hammers’ defensive options, and competition for first-team places is sure to be stiff.
Newcastle, though, are in a similar position. The Magpies are well-stocked with options at the back and Florian Lejeune and Jamaal Lascelles developed a formidable partnership throughout last season.
Nevertheless, Fanatik indicate that in the race for Mexico international Reyes, Newcastle and Fenerbahce are currently at the front of the queue.
