Newcastle United have shown a strong interest in Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen and the Dutch side have said that they will need to spend £20 million to sign the player, according to Chronicle Live.
The Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has identified that his side need a top quality striker this summer and feels that this is where he should prioritise his transfers.
The money which is available to him still appears to be limited but the report claims that Benitez is expecting to spend around £50 million, similar to the amount he spent in the previous summer transfer window.
In order to sign a top quality striker, they are going to need to break their long-standing club transfer record which still stands at £16 million which they spent on Michael Owen back in 2005.
Jorgensen is a player that they have watched for some time and Benitez could look to reignite their interest this summer as he goes in search of added goals.
