Newcastle United have made an approach to Crystal Palace for winger Andros Townsend, according to Dominic Fifield of The Guardian.
The Magpies are reportedly willing to spend around £20m to bring the England international back to St James’ Park, but they are facing competition for his signature from Leicester City.
Townsend left Newcastle following their relegation to the Championship back in 2016 and he signed a five-year contract with Palace at the time of the transfer.

However, with another season of Premier League football to look forward to, Rafa Benitez is keen to being back his former player, and he’s willing to pay around £7m more that he received from Palace in order to get him.
Leicester look certain to lose Riyad Mahrez this summer and they see Townsend as a potential replacement, however, there is no word as to whether Palace will be willing to sell one of their better players.
