Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro, according to a report by Calciomercato in Italy.
The report claims that Rafa Benitez has requested preliminary information on Sturaro, meaning the Spaniard has an interest in bringing him to St James’ Park.
Sturaro played 19 times for the Serie A winners last season, including 5 Champions League appearances in their run to the quarter-finals.
The 25-year-old is under contract in Turin until 2021 so it could take a significant fee to prise him away from Juventus.
The Italy international has no shortage of interest and has been linked with a move back to former club Genoa, as well as La Liga side Valencia.
Benitez is looking to add to his central midfield options and Sturaro could be the perfect partner for playmaker Jonjo Shelvey in the middle.
