Newcastle United will not make an approach to sign loanee Islam Slimani, despite parent club Leicester being willing to listen to offers for the striker.
The Leicester Mercury, citing the Newcastle Chronicle, report that Slimani was a last-resort signing on January deadline day and they will not pursue any further interest in the player.
The Algerian was restricted to only 131 competitive minutes in a Magpies shirt due to persistent injury problems, making only one start.
During his limited time on the pitch, he was not able to provide a goal or assist, making him surplus to requirements for boss Rafael Benitez.

The Foxes signed the 29-year-old two seasons ago for a fee of £30m, but he has failed to impress and club hierarchy are keen to cut their losses as soon as possible.
During his two seasons in the East Midlands, he has made 35 Premier League appearances and scored eight times.
When fit, Slimani was kept out of the Newcastle side by the form duo of Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle.
