Newcastle United are ready to return with a bid for Garry Rodrigues and beat West Ham to his signature, report Turkish outlet Milliyet.
The winger has had an excellent season for Galatasaray and they are currently top of the Turkish Super Lig with one game to go, needing a point to secure the title this weekend.
The 27-year-old has been on Newcastle’s radar for a while, with bids in the last two transfer windows rebuffed for him, but this summer they are keener than ever to make sure they get the deal done.
Rafa Benitez has asked owner Mike Ashley for extra funds and that is believed to have been granted, so an offer of around £20 million is expected.
Rodrigues has been one of the most influential players for Galatasaray this season, nine goals as well as 10 assists look like helping them to their first title in three seasons.
Benitez will definitely have a winger on his shopping list after Kenedy’s loan spell finished, so a move for Rodrigues would suit them well.
West Ham are also interested in him, but the strong finish of the Toon plus the money they are willing to offer makes a move to Tyneside look more likely.
