Newcastle are reportedly interested in Hannover forward Niclas Füllkrug this summer, according to German sources.
The 25-year old striker has been in fine form for the club this season, scoring 15 goals and assisting three in the Bundesliga, and has caught the eye of several Premier League and Championship clubs.
According to German outlet Bild, as reported by Sport Witness, Watford, Leicester City and newly promoted Cardiff are ready to rival the Magpies for
Füllkrug’s signature, while fellow second-flight clubs Aston Villa and Fulham are also keen.
The English sides will face competition from Germany, with fellow Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg said to be keen in the former Germany Under-20s international.
Füllkrug has no release clause and with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2020, Hannover can demand whatever they so please. Bild claim that the club could get ‘double figures’ for their star – a price tag likely to be affordable by all the aforementioned English clubs.
Newcastle have struggled for consistency with their striking options this season, with Ayoze Perez on eight, and Dwight Gayle and Joselu on nine combined. Therefore, a relatively cheap option could be just what Rafa Benitez’ side needs.
