Newcastle facing competition for French youngster

Newcastle United will try to sign Samuel Grandsir from Troyes this summer but face tough competition from Bournemouth, as reported by Mercato 365, translated by Sport Witness.

The 21-year-old is highly regarded in France despite his current side Troyes being in a relegation battle..

The attacker has scored three goals and assisted four this season and is expected to leave the club if they are relegated.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has asked his club for backing in the transfer market this summer and this would show a real sign of intent if they fended off other interest to bring Grandsir in.

It has been suggested Newcastle made an offer of €13 million in January for the player, with the French side rejecting that so their survival chances weren’t made slimmer.

French sides Monaco and Nice are also linked with the French under-21 international, and he may opt to stay in his home country.

However despite the emergence of Kylian Mbappe last season suggesting that Monaco would be the safest bet for Grandsir, the lure of the Premier League could prove to be too strong for him to reject.

matchday.
