Football agent Alexander Manyakov has said that Russian midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has attracted interest from Newcastle United, as translated and reported by Sport Witness.
He has been linked with a number of clubs in the Premier League, with Southampton also said to be interested in the player following his fine displays throughout the course of the season.
The agent spoke about the player possibly leaving CSKA Moscow at the end of the season in a recent interview:
He needs to leave. As far as I know, there are offers from Premier League clubs but not from the top six. I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but he has a contract with CSKA.
The player is set to feature at the World Cup in his homeland and this could further his chances of a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal and Brighton have already been cited with interest in previous months.
Newcastle would appear to have a greater chance of recruiting Golovin in the summer, with Southampton currently attempting to keep their heads above water in the ongoing Premier League relegation battle.
