Rafa Benitez is set to make an attacking midfielder his priority, as he looks to bring in a number 10 in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Chronicle Live.
The Toon currently have Mo Diame in that position and have also played Ayoze Perez as a second striker, but wish to get a quality talent in that position.
It is believed that the Magpies have been scouting attacking midfielder from Red Bull Salzburg, Valon Berisha for 18 months. However, they are also believed to be looking at about 10 different options for that position.
Berisha is 25 years old and has spent six years at the Austrian champions, scoring 37 goals and making 34 assists.

It has also been reported that Newcastle United have been looking at Besiktas star Oguzhan Ozyakup, whose contract runs out at the end of the season and so would be a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Benitez’s contract runs out at the end of next season and he is set to sit down with the club board and discuss an extension to keep him in the hot seat at St James’ Park for longer.
However, he wishes to know that the club are ambitious as he wants funds to build the club and guide the Toon up the Premier League table.
