Newcastle United are pushing to complete a deal for Leicester City forward Islam Slimani on loan until the end of the season, as reported by the Mirror.
The Foxes striker has been out of favour since his arrival at the club and would like to move out on loan in order to help him revitalise himself away from the King Power Stadium.
Newcastle were frustrated to miss out on Daniel Sturridge, who has gone to West Brom on loan until the end of the season, as he was seemingly their main attacking target this month.

The Foxes have already let attacking players go this month. Leonardo Ulloa has been loaned out to Brighton and Ahmed Musa has rejoined CSKA Moscow. The Algerian could also be allowed to leave the club on a loan deal.
Newcastle showed an interest early on in the window but put everything into the Sturridge deal and have now come back for the Leicester man.
